Ronald L. Otte
Vice President of Operations

After a distinguished 34-year career in law enforcement in Alaska, Ron Otte joined the NMS team in 2000, as the Director of Operations for NMS Security. Ron started his police career with the Anchorage Police Department in 1965, with early assignments including patrol, traffic, community relations, training, investigations, and personnel selection. After working through the ranks, he was appointed Chief of Police in 1986 and served in that position for two years.

In 1989, Ron was hired as the Chief of Police for the City of Palmer. He held that position until 1994, when he was appointed Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Public Safety. As Commissioner, Ron managed a statewide law enforcement agency of 1,000 employees and a budget of $100 million.

Ron attended the University of Idaho for three years and completed his education at the University of Alaska Anchorage. He is a graduate of the 115th session of the FBI National Academy and the FBI’s National Executive Institute. He is a life member of the Alaska Peace Officers Association, the Alaska Chiefs Association, and the Fraternal Order of Alaska State Troopers, and a current member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

Duane Udland
Business Development Manager, Western Region

Duane joined NMS in 2001 as the Security Manager for NMS’ Security Division. In 2004 he became Director of NMS’ camp services and security operations. Duane is currently the Business Development Director for NMS Division and also oversees all security operations in the lower 48.

Duane Udland joined NMS after 29 years in the law enforcement field. Duane began his career with the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office in 1972, where he worked in jail security, patrol, and finally as a detective. In 1978, he and his family moved to Alaska, where he joined the Soldotna Police Department, holding the rank of Sergeant until he was appointed Chief of Police in 1982. IN 1988, Duane was recruited for the positions of Deputy Chief of Police with the Anchorage Police Department, and he was ultimately appointed to the position of Chief of Police in 1997.

Duane attended the Spokane Police Academy in 1973, graduated from the FBI National Academy and the National Executive Institute, and has extensive training in all aspects of the policing filed. During his tenure in law enforcement, Duane developed a strong background in all basic police skills. The last 18 years of his career were spent in police management and leadership positions. Intensely customer-focused, Duane brings a strong commitment to client satisfaction. Duane is a lifetime member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Alaska Association of Chiefs of Police.

David Todd
Business Development Manager, Eastern Region

David Todd joined NMS as Director of Operations in 2008 after a distinguished 20 year career in law enforcement. As Director of Operations Todd provides oversight and direction to all NMS operations on the East Coast.

David started his police career as a Road Trooper with the Connecticut State Police where he earned his certification as a K-9 Handler and Search Dog Handler. In 1996 David moved to the Casino Unite where he was a Detective. His responsibilities included the investigation of gaming crimes, employee theft and deception. He completed specialized training in both Atlantic City and Las Vegas. In 1998 David became the Resident State Trooper in Old Lyme, CT. As such he was responsible for the oversight all residential police activities.

David holds a BA in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida and an MS in Forensic Science from the University of New Haven. He is a certified U.S. Navy Diver and Ice Diver. He also holds certifications as a Bicycle Patrol Police Officer, K-9 Handler and Search Dog Handler.

Mark Marsh,
Area Manager, Southern Region

Mark came to NMS after retiring from the Anchorage Police Department with 29 years of service. His career was extensive and distinguished. Mark began his career with APD in 1971 as a reserve officer. In 1972, he was hired as a warrants officer and quickly moved on to the patrol division, where he spent the next 20 years in a variety of assignments. Mark was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1982 and assigned to the newly created Crisis Intervention Response Team (CIRT). After being promoted to Lieutenant, Mark was appointed as Commander of CIRT, K-9, the Bomb Squad, the Hostage Negotiation Team, the Traffic Division, and the Explorer Scout program. Mark finished his time with APD as the detective commander of the Major Crimes Unit.

Beyond his basic academy training, Mark received specialized training from the United States Army, the FBI, the Los Angeles Police Department, the Alaska State Troopers, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and several other police agencies. He holds an Advanced Police Certificate, and has over 1000 hours of in-service police training. Mark is a graduate of the University of Louisville, Southern Police Institute and is a certified instructor in Special Weapons and Tactics and Dignitary Protection.
